A Christmas Card Using Stampin’ Up! Regal Reindeer with Split Card Texture Die Cut

Keeping true to my goal of creating Christmas cards in July, this was created using the Split Card Texture die and Regal Reindeer Bundle.  This Split Card Texture die cut is a must have.  My brain is on overload with the many stamp sets I can use with this die! The possibilities are endless!  Although I have two pictures, it’s the same card.  I thought I was finished and took a picture of the first card.  I kept looking at and thinking it just needed something else. I decided to add some snow on the trees using the Snowfall Puff Paint.  A tip using the puff paint….a little goes a long way!

A Three-Panel Card Using Stampin’ Up! Leaves of Holly

This stamp set is new and can be found in the new Mini Catalog.  I was looking forward to using it and I’m not disappointed at all.  I love how well it stamps.

I took the white Baker’s twine and colored it using my Soft Succulent blend. If you decide to color the twine, I recommend doing it first and set it aside to dry while you work on the rest of the card.  It takes a few minutes to dry.

The Basic White panels measure 1 ½ x 2 ¾ and Evening Evergreen layers measures 1 5/8 x 2 7/8.

Masking Technique Using Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Cabin Stamp Set

Just one of many reasons I’ve enjoyed being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is how so many of the other talented Demonstrators are constantly sharing their creativity and willingness to teach different techniques.  This card is CASED from one of those talented Demonstrators, Lisa Freeman.

This card was created using a “masking” technique.  I’ve actually made several of these playing with the lightness and darkness of the sky and decided I love the darker sky against the snow.  I’ve included some pictures below to help explain the masking technique.  Trust me, it’s actually quite easy and the results are gorgeous!

You can find the list of Stampin’ Up! items I used to create this card below.

Supplies:

  • Stamp:  Peaceful Cabin
  • Dies:  Cabin
  • Punch:  1 inch circle (retired)
  • Cardstock:  Basic White, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen
  • DSP:  Tidings of Christmas #155718
  • Stampin’ Ink Pad:  Basic Gray, Evening Evergreen, Misty Moonlight, VersaMark
  • Stampin’ Blending Brushes #153611
  • Adhesive of choice and Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals #104430
  • Embellishments:  2021-2023 In Color Jewels #155571
  • Bone folder #102300
  • Paper Snips Scissors #103579
  • Emboss Powder #155554
  • Heat Tool #129053
  • Other:  Sticky note sheet (I used 5 x 3 size)

Cutting Instructions (measurements in inches):

  • Card base:  4 ¼ x 11, score at 5 ½
  • DSP, 4 x 5 ½
  • Evening Evergreen, 4 x 4
  • Basic White, 3 ¾ x 3 ¾
  • Basic Black, scrap approximately 2 x 2
  • Ribbon, approximately 6 inches, enough to tie a knot

Instructions:

  • Prepare card base by folding the card in half at the scored mark, set aside.
  • Stamp the cabin and fence image with Basic Gray ink on Basic White.
  • Let’s create the “masking.”  Stamp the cabin with Basic Gray on the sticky note.  TIP:  Place the stamp as close to the top of the sticky note.

  • Punch a circle out of the sticky note (as close to the top as possible).
  • Using your paper snips, cut out the cabinet from the stamped sticky note.
  • Now let’s get started on blending.  Lay the cut out sticky note directly on top of the cabin on the Basic White.  Place the punched out moon somewhere above the cabin.  TIP:  Press down to ensure the sticky note stays in place.
  • Using the blending brush with Misty Moonlight ink, start creating the sky.  Go as light or as dark as you like.
  • DO NOT lift the masking yet.
  • Using Evening Evergreen ink, stamp some trees.
  • Using Misty Moonlight, randomly stamp snowflakes.
  • Now you can remove the masking!  Gorgeous right?!
  • The sentiments were stamped with white emboss powder and VersaMark on Evening Evergreen.
  • Add embellishments.
