Just one of many reasons I’ve enjoyed being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is how so many of the other talented Demonstrators are constantly sharing their creativity and willingness to teach different techniques. This card is CASED from one of those talented Demonstrators, Lisa Freeman.
This card was created using a “masking” technique. I’ve actually made several of these playing with the lightness and darkness of the sky and decided I love the darker sky against the snow. I’ve included some pictures below to help explain the masking technique. Trust me, it’s actually quite easy and the results are gorgeous!
You can find the list of Stampin’ Up! items I used to create this card below.
Products used can be purchased through my Stampin’ Up! on-line store, unless otherwise stated. You can find my website information under SHOP.

Cutting Instructions (measurements in inches):
- Card base: 4 ¼ x 11, score at 5 ½
- DSP, 4 x 5 ½
- Evening Evergreen, 4 x 4
- Basic White, 3 ¾ x 3 ¾
- Basic Black, scrap approximately 2 x 2
- Ribbon, approximately 6 inches, enough to tie a knot
Instructions:
- Prepare card base by folding the card in half at the scored mark, set aside.
- Stamp the cabin and fence image with Basic Gray ink on Basic White.
- Let’s create the “masking.” Stamp the cabin with Basic Gray on the sticky note. TIP: Place the stamp as close to the top of the sticky note.
- Punch a circle out of the sticky note (as close to the top as possible).
- Using your paper snips, cut out the cabinet from the stamped sticky note.
- Now let’s get started on blending. Lay the cut out sticky note directly on top of the cabin on the Basic White. Place the punched out moon somewhere above the cabin. TIP: Press down to ensure the sticky note stays in place.
- Using the blending brush with Misty Moonlight ink, start creating the sky. Go as light or as dark as you like.
- DO NOT lift the masking yet.
- Using Evening Evergreen ink, stamp some trees.
- Using Misty Moonlight, randomly stamp snowflakes.
- Now you can remove the masking! Gorgeous right?!
- The sentiments were stamped with white emboss powder and VersaMark on Evening Evergreen.
- Add embellishments.
